EASA Open Category A1/A3
The EU remote pilot competency for the open category, subcategories A1 and A3, passed on 10 April 2023 and valid for five years.

The open category is the EU's class for low-risk drone flying without an operational authorisation. A1 covers drones under 900 g flown close to uninvolved people, never over crowds; A3 covers drones up to 25 kg flown well away from people and built-up areas. I passed the online exam with the Dutch Drone Academy, and the proof of completion is registered with the RDW.
Model aircraft are a separate track: in August 2024 I joined the Dokkumer Modelvliegclub, a club of the Royal Netherlands Aeronautical Association (KNVvL), and my RC aircraft flew at a club field that month.
